Ad Mare Woodwind Quintet

Grrrrrr. Homework is starting to pile up and it's really starting to stress me out. It seems like every night I'm sleeping a little bit later than the last. At least I can still manage to wake up pretty early in the morning, and I barely feel tired in class. But it's only a matter of time before I start to collapse. I have a Chinese exam on Wednesday, which I'm totally not prepared for, and then there's projects to be done, poems to be written, and homework to be caught up on, especially French.
I feel pretty bad about missing French, again-the second time in a row. The first, we went to watch The Trespassers, and today, I went down to watch a band performance. But I really am glad that I didn't miss out on the performance. The Ad Mare Woodwind Quintet came in today, and they were a professional woodwind quintet. And they were really, really good. A woodwind quintet is basically made up of 5 woodwind instruments: Flute, Oboe, French horn, Bassoon, and Clarinet. It was really cool hearing them play, because their sound and tone was really good, and they were so in tune! Also, they didn't have a conductor, so they relied on each other, giving signals as to when to start and when to end. It was just really, really amazing to watch. It was really awesome since I could see the Oboe in action, one of the instruments I've never seen before. Also, our band doesn't have a French horn, so it was great hearing how that sounded. The flutist also gave us a surprise when she played her piccolo, which was also very amazing. Piccolo as always been one of the instruments I've wanted to play. The sound was really shrill, and high, but still, the fingering and appearance look is very much like the flute's (but way shorter, of course). They quintet played various songs for us, especially a series of movements that impersonated a frog, which was really nice, especially since each of the instruments were featured in different movements. I'm really glad I decided to come watch this. Now, I really wish I could play the flute this well. Well, I guess this means more PRACTICE!
